DUBAI – Iran executed three men on Wednesday after convicting them of spying for Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency and smuggling assassination equipment, according to the judiciary’s Mizan news agency.
Authorities stated that the smuggled equipment was used in the killing of an unidentified individual. However, no further details about the victim or the method of assassination were disclosed by Iranian officials.
This development highlights Iran’s ongoing shadow war with Israel, which has now escalated into more public accusations and confrontations. Tehran claims the Mossad has been behind multiple sabotage operations and targeted killings within the country.
Over the years, Iran has executed numerous individuals accused of helping Israel carry out secret missions, including the assassinations of nuclear scientists and attacks on sensitive infrastructure.
Iranian officials continue to claim that such foreign-backed plots are aimed at weakening the country’s security and disrupting its nuclear progress. These cases are often used to signal Tehran’s zero-tolerance stance on espionage.
Despite international criticism of Iran’s judicial processes and execution rate, the government maintains that harsh punishments are necessary to deter future threats from foreign intelligence networks.
