Monsoon rains expected in Karachi this weekend

Karachi is set to experience monsoon rains over the weekend, with the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecasting hot weather during the week.

The city is expected to face strong winds, heavy downpours, and a risk of urban flooding, especially in low-lying areas like Korangi, Lyari, and Saddar.

Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad and Hyderabad, will also experience rainfall during the same period. The PMD forecasts a chance of thunderstorms and thunderstorms in the southern areas of the province.

The weather forecast for Karachi over the coming days indicates hot and humid conditions with partly cloudy skies. Temperatures are expected to range between 33°C and 36°C from Tuesday to Thursday.

Tuesday will see temperatures between 34°C and 36°C, with partly cloudy skies.

On Wednesday, temperatures will remain between 34°C and 36°C, with similar weather conditions. By Thursday, temperatures will range from 33°C to 35°C, continuing the warm, humid pattern.

According to PMD, moist currents from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal are currently affecting upper parts of Pakistan, while a westerly wave is also influencing the weather in these regions.

The impact is expected to intensify by Wednesday, with rain and windstorms forecast in areas like Kashmir, Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Potohar, and Northeastern Punjab.

The PMD forecasted isolated heavy rainfall on Wednesday, with significant precipitation expected in Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, and the Potohar region.

Over the past 24 hours, the weather has been predominantly hot and humid across the country, with Sibbi, Turbat, and Jacobabad recording maximum temperatures of up to 45°C. In Punjab, Jhang and Sialkot received light rainfall, with Jhang recording 4mm and Sialkot 1mm.
