Power outage hits Gwadar port and airport as Iran supply disrupted

Gwadar Port and New Gwadar International Airport faced power outages on Monday after electricity supply from Iran was disrupted, affecting the entire Makran division, the Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO) reported.

The outage impacted all grid stations connected through the 132kV Pishin-Mand and Polan-Jiwani transmission lines. Areas affected included Mand, Tump, Turbat, Hoshab, Panjgur, Jiwani, Gwadar Door, Pasni, and Ormara, causing widespread electricity disruption.

QESCO acted quickly to manage the situation. By 5 pm, power was restored by linking the Makran division to the national grid. Electricity supply was gradually resumed to all feeders, and full power was restored in the affected areas.

The company spokesperson said QESCO’s management remains in close contact with Iranian authorities to resolve the issue and restore direct power supply from Iran as soon as possible.

QESCO apologized for the inconvenience caused by the power outage and urged consumers to stay patient and cooperate during the restoration process.

Meanwhile, authorities continue monitoring the situation to prevent future disruptions and ensure stable electricity supply for Gwadar’s key infrastructure and the surrounding region.
