The National Academy of Higher Education (NAHE), a Higher Education Commission (HEC) initiative, launched its Capacity Building Programme for University Management in collaboration with Muhammad Nawaz Sharif University of Engineering and Technology (MNS-UET), Multan, on Monday.

Part of NAHE’s National Outreach Programme, the five-day training aims to enhance the leadership, governance, and administrative capabilities of university management professionals. Participants include staff from MNS-UET, The Women University Multan, and the NFC Institute of Engineering and Technology (NFC-IET), Multan.

The programme focuses on institutional effectiveness, strategic planning, higher education policies, and leadership development. The opening ceremony took place at the GCT Conference Hall, MNS-UET, and began with the recitation of the Holy Quran and the national anthem. In his welcome address, Prof. Engr. Dr. Tahir Sultan, Vice Chancellor of MNS-UET, highlighted the vital role of university administrators in driving academic excellence and innovation. He lauded NAHE and HEC for launching an initiative aimed at strengthening the administrative frameworks of higher education institutions.

Prof. Dr. Ishtiaq A. Rajwana, former Vice Chancellor of MNS University of Agriculture, Multan (MNSUAM), attended the event as the chief guest. In his keynote speech, Dr Rajwana stressed the need for dynamic leadership and accountability to address the growing challenges in the education sector. Dr Muhammad Afzal, the programme’s resource person, outlined the training objectives and urged participants to actively engage in all sessions to ensure meaningful learning outcomes.

The programme is being coordinated by Dr Rooha Masroor, Incharge QEC and NAHE Coordinator at MNS-UET. She described the initiative as a practical step towards institutional reform in line with NAHE’s vision for excellence in university governance.

The training sessions will continue until June 27. A closing ceremony will be held on the final day, where participants will receive certificates in recognition of their commitment to improving university management practices.
