PM Shehbaz orders crackdown on sugar hoarders and price fixers to control market

The federal government has launched a strict crackdown on sugar hoarders and price manipulators to stop artificial inflation in the market. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif gave the green signal during a high-level meeting aimed at protecting consumers from rising sugar prices.

According to official sources, PM Shehbaz summoned another urgent meeting today to monitor the situation. During this session, he will receive a detailed briefing on market trends and steps taken to curb the artificial price hike. He emphasized that sugar, being a basic necessity, must remain within the public’s reach.

The Prime Minister approved a coordinated national action plan. It includes tough legal action against those involved in hoarding, cartelization, and artificial inflation. These measures follow concerns that some groups are creating fake shortages to manipulate prices for illegal profit.

The crackdown will include market inspections, surprise raids, and arrests. Authorities will seize illegally stored sugar and punish those violating the law. The move is part of the government’s broader plan to stabilize prices ahead of the upcoming months when sugar demand typically rises.

To ensure strong enforcement, full powers have been given to FIA, IB, FBR, State Bank, and other agencies. These institutions will work together to stop profiteering, improve supply, and restore public trust in the market system.
