Norwegian envoy calls on Balochistan CM to discuss governance, development

Acting Ambassador of Norway and Chargés d’affaires , Thomas Dahl, met with Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti for a productive exchange on cooperation in public welfare, education, healthcare and peace. The meeting focused on matters of mutual interest, particularly improvements in governance, developmental progress, and initiatives related to public welfare and peace in the province.

During the meeting, Chief Minister Bugti briefed the Norwegian diplomat on the Balochistan government’s ongoing efforts to enhance governance through transparency, merit-based practices, and the promotion of rule of law.

He highlighted that institutional reforms are being implemented to make administrative processes more efficient and citizen-friendly. The two sides held in-depth discussions on various public welfare initiatives, including human resource development, quality education, and public healthcare. Both participants agreed to expand bilateral cooperation in these key sectors.

Chief Minister Bugti emphasized that a new era of peace and development has started in Balochistan. He said that the provincial government is not only accelerating the pace of development projects but is also fostering sustainable growth through international partnerships.

He reiterated that the establishment of lasting peace remains the government’s top priority, stressing that development cannot be achieved without a secure and stable environment. The Chief Minister added that the state’s writ is being firmly upheld, and coordinated strategies are in place to combat extremism, lawlessness, and criminal elements.

The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both sides expressing a commitment to strengthening collaboration for the socio-economic advancement and long-term stability of Balochistan.
