Rain expected across Pakistan from june 20, urban flooding warning issued

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted widespread rainfall in different parts of the country starting June 20. The rain spell is expected to continue until June 23, bringing much-needed relief from the intense heat. According to PMD, these showers may break the ongoing heatwave and bring cooler temperatures across many regions.

The rain is being caused by monsoon winds entering the region. PMD reports that eastern Balochistan, southern Punjab, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are likely to receive showers accompanied by strong winds. This change in weather is expected to provide some comfort after days of dry, hot conditions. Karachi has already seen a drop in temperature as sea breeze has returned, reducing humidity and heat.

From June 21 to 23, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir are also expected to receive rainfall. Meanwhile, parts of Sindh may experience rain between June 22 and 23. These weather changes could benefit agriculture and water supply but may also create some risks.

Due to expected heavy rainfall, authorities have issued warnings for flash floods in rivers and streams, especially in low-lying areas. Urban centers may face urban flooding, where rainwater accumulates quickly and disrupts daily life. People living in flood-prone areas are advised to take precautions.

The PMD continues to monitor the situation and urges the public to stay updated through official weather alerts. Travelers and residents in at-risk regions should plan accordingly and avoid unnecessary outdoor activities during heavy rain.
