Deputy Chairman Senate, Syedal Khan, on Wednesday prohibited the display of banners, flags, photographs, or any form of sloganeering within the House, emphasizing that such activities are strictly barred under parliamentary rules. While presiding over Senate session, he issued a ruling underscoring the importance of maintaining decorum in the Upper House and reaffirmed the necessity of strict compliance with the Senate Rules of Procedure, specifically Rule 225, Paragraph 7. Syedal said that if violations continue after this ruling, action will be taken under Rules 13(4) and 246 of the Senate Rules. “For me, as Deputy Chairman, all members are equal-no one is special or ordinary-but the House will function strictly according to the rules,” he added. He said that it was the collective responsibility of all members to ensure the decorum of the House is preserved and respected. The Deputy Chairman reminded members that display of banners, photographs, and sloganeering are strictly prohibited in the House, emphasizing the Upper House’s constitutional duty to uphold the rule of law as a representative of all federating units. Syedal urged all senators to uphold the dignity of the House by adhering to established rules and called on parliamentary party leaders to ensure their members are well-informed about the relevant regulations.
