TEL AVIV – Israeli police arrested a man from the Arab town of Kafr Kanna after he posted an image of the Iranian flag and a salute emoji on social media, alongside a controversial Turkish rap song. Authorities are now preparing to file charges against him in the coming days.
According to the Times of Israel, the arrest took place on Saturday at the suspect’s residence. The man had shared a stock image showing the Iranian flag, paired with a salute emoji and a Turkish rap song titled Illegal Life, which authorities claim expresses support for terrorism.
Police officials stated they questioned the man on suspicions of expressing sympathy and support for terrorist acts. On Monday, the Nazareth Magistrate Court extended his detention while prosecutors submitted a formal announcement signaling their intention to pursue criminal charges soon.
Moreover, Israeli police emphasized that they will take strict action against any individual who praises or supports enemy states, terrorist groups, or their actions—whether online or offline—especially during times of conflict, to ensure public safety.
Israel’s National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir also reacted strongly. On Monday, he vowed that authorities will adopt a zero-tolerance policy against those who express joy over Iran’s attacks on Israel, calling such expressions unacceptable and dangerous.
This incident reflects growing concerns in Israel about the misuse of social media during heightened regional tensions. As digital platforms continue to influence public opinion, authorities remain vigilant against content they believe threatens national security.
