Sky on alert: Bomb threat forces IndiGo flight to land in Nagpur

A series of bomb threats have caused panic across multiple international flights, forcing emergency landings and airport evacuations. On June 17, an IndiGo flight from Muscat to New Delhi was forced to make an emergency landing in Nagpur, India. The airline received a bomb threat via email. The plane, carrying 157 passengers and six crew members, landed safely, and everyone was evacuated without harm.

Authorities said no suspicious item was found on board after a thorough inspection. A Bomb Threat Assessment Committee (BTAC) was formed to investigate, and the threat was labeled “specific” by officials.

Similar incidents were reported earlier in the week. A Lufthansa flight from Frankfurt to Hyderabad had to return to Germany following a bomb scare. On June 13, an Air India flight from Phuket to Delhi also turned back mid-flight due to another bomb threat.

In another case, a Saudi Airlines flight SV 5276 carrying 442 Hajj pilgrims from Jeddah to Jakarta was diverted to Medan, Indonesia. The threat was received via an anonymous email. Authorities conducted a full aircraft search, and passengers were evacuated safely.

These threats followed a tragic accident involving an Air India flight on June 12 in Ahmedabad, which killed over 270 people. Aviation authorities are now on high alert, tightening security measures across the region.
