Cristiano Ronaldo sends trump a signed shirt with a message for peace

Football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo gifted a signed Portugal jersey to U.S. President Donald Trump, featuring a heartfelt message: “Playing for peace.” The shirt was delivered during the G7 Summit in Alberta, Canada, symbolizing a powerful call for unity through sport.

Portugal’s former Prime Minister Antonio Costa, a close friend of Ronaldo, personally handed over the jersey to Trump during the summit. Costa and Ronaldo have shared a long-standing relationship, with Costa recently praising Ronaldo’s leadership after guiding Portugal to their second UEFA Nations League title.

As world leaders gathered to discuss key global issues—including rising tensions between Israel and Iran—Ronaldo’s gesture served as a reminder of the unifying power of sports. The personalized message on the jersey offered a meaningful pause in an otherwise tense political setting.

Despite playing for Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia’s Pro League, Ronaldo continues to influence international conversations. Reports suggest he has declined offers from clubs participating in the FIFA Club World Cup, indicating his potential commitment to a longer stay with Al Nassr.

Meanwhile, Trump was seen engaging with leaders on a range of geopolitical matters. The unexpected gift from one of the world’s most famous athletes stood out, adding a softer tone to a summit focused heavily on conflict and diplomacy.

Ronaldo’s message not only celebrates sportsmanship but also underscores how global icons can use their platforms for peace. At a time of rising uncertainty, his small yet powerful act highlights how sports can bridge divides and inspire unity.
