The conflict between Iran and Israel entered its fifth day on Tuesday, with both countries launching fresh attacks. Former US President Donald Trump called for the immediate evacuation of Tehran, blaming Iran’s refusal to accept a nuclear deal. He warned that Iran must never be allowed to develop a nuclear weapon, adding, “What a shame, and waste of human life.”
Tehran was rocked by explosions and air defense activity, while the city of Natanz, which houses critical nuclear facilities, also came under threat. On the other side, air raid sirens wailed across central and northern Israel, including Tel Aviv and Haifa, as Iran launched more missiles. Although there were no new reports of fatalities, the attacks caused widespread alarm.
Trump claimed that Iran had missed a 60-day deadline to halt uranium enrichment, and said a deal was still possible if Iran chose diplomacy over aggression. French President Emmanuel Macron expressed cautious optimism, calling the proposed ceasefire a “positive development” during the G7 summit. However, Iran said it cannot negotiate under attack, and demanded that Israel stop its military campaign.
Iran reported 224 civilian deaths since the start of the war, while Israel confirmed 24 fatalities and the evacuation of nearly 3,000 citizens. According to the International Atomic Energy Agency, the Natanz nuclear site sustained extensive damage, likely destroying 15,000 centrifuges. Despite the losses, Iran has successfully launched some of its most damaging strikes yet.
Regional powers including Oman, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia have been asked by Iran to mediate, urging Trump to pressure Israel into agreeing to a ceasefire. Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned that the military campaign will continue unless Iran abandons its nuclear and missile programs. With neither side backing down, the region remains on edge.
