Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has formally urged the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) to boycott the upcoming federal budget vote. This strategic move aims to increase pressure on the government and block the budget’s approval in the National Assembly.
Senior PTI leader Asad Qaiser met with PPP’s Raja Pervez Ashraf at Parliament House to discuss a joint opposition strategy. During the meeting, Qaiser highlighted PPP’s recent statements on budget boycott and expressed PTI’s willingness to support such a move.
Qaiser emphasized that opposition unity on a crucial issue like the budget would strengthen their position against the ruling party. He believes that combined efforts could make a significant impact on the government’s plans.
Raja Pervez Ashraf assured Qaiser that he would present the PTI proposal to PPP leadership, including Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. Ashraf mentioned that Bilawal was expected to arrive at Parliament soon, where the matter would be discussed.
This meeting occurred amid ongoing debates on the federal budget, with increasing criticism from various opposition parties. While PPP has not yet announced its final stance, PTI’s proposal has sparked lively discussions in political circles.
The opposition’s move to boycott the budget reflects growing tensions in parliament and highlights challenges faced by the government in pushing its financial plan forward. The coming days will reveal whether PPP joins PTI in this political strategy.
