On the special directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, body worn cameras have been provided to the City Traffic Police (CTP) Rawalpindi. “The move is aimed at monitoring the conduct of traffic wardens, particularly their dealing with the public. The officials are always advised to deal with the people in a respectful and lawful manner, and their constant monitoring will help achieve this goal,” Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Rawalpindi Beenish Fatima said in a statement on Sunday. The CTO said the body cameras would not only help in checking the performance and behavior of traffic police officials but also record traffic rule violations by the citizens. The move, she said, would make traffic laws’ enforcement more transparent and help build public trust. CTO Beenish, “The protection of people’s lives and property is our top priority. No carelessness on the part of traffic police officials can be tolerated in this regard.” She affirmed that the CTP personnel always remained on the roads even in extreme weather conditions to serve the public and ensure the rule of law. The citizens also strictly follow traffic laws to avoid road accidents, she added.
