A high-level United Nations delegation visited Khar Farms in Khar Gharbi, Kot Addu, hosted by Senate Chairman’s Advisor Ms Misbah Khar and industrialist Ghulam Muhammad Yahya Khar.
The delegation was led by UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Pakistan Mr Mohamed Yahya and IFAD Representative Ms Fernanda Thomaz.
During the visit, a mango tree plantation ceremony was held, symbolizing a joint commitment to environmental sustainability and agricultural development in the region.
The delegation met local community members to discuss rural development, poverty reduction, agriculture, and social welfare. They also interacted with mango farmers – key players in the region’s export economy.
Discussions on expanding mango exports encouraged farmers and highlighted future international collaboration opportunities.
A traditional breakfast was served in honor of the guests, followed by cultural performances showcasing South Punjab’s rich heritage.
The visit marked a significant step toward promoting sustainable agriculture, community engagement, and regional culture.
