PM Shehbaz reaffirms Pakistan’s support for Iran amid Israeli attacks

ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong support for Iran following recent Israeli strikes, calling the aggression a clear violation of Iran’s sovereignty and international law.

During a phone call with Iranian President Dr Masoud Pezeshkian on Saturday, Prime Minister Shehbaz strongly condemned the Israeli attacks and offered condolences for the innocent lives lost. He emphasized that such actions threaten both regional and global peace.

The prime minister stated that under Article 51 of the UN Charter, Iran has the full right to self-defense. He reiterated Pakistan’s solidarity with the Iranian government and its people, stressing that Pakistan stands firmly with Iran in these difficult times.

Furthermore, Shehbaz urged the international community, especially the United Nations, to take urgent and credible steps to halt Israel’s unlawful and provocative actions. He called the attacks a serious breach of peace and international norms.

President Pezeshkian thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz for Pakistan’s unwavering support, especially at the UN Security Council. He appreciated Pakistan’s principled stance and highlighted the strong brotherly ties between the two countries.

Both leaders agreed that Islamic countries must unite and respond collectively to regional threats. They also pledged to continue working together for peace and stability in the region while maintaining close diplomatic contact in the coming days.
