Parts of Karachi were again shaken as an earthquake of magnitude 3.2 shook parts of the port city at 9:53 AM on Saturday morning. The depth of the quake was 35 kilometers, while its epicenter was 12 kilometers north of Malir locality of the city.
It is worth-mentioning here that different areas of the city have been jolted by low-intensity earthquakes a number of times during the last two weeks.
And in some cases, several times on a single day.
On Thursday it reported that Karachi was once again rocked by a mild earthquake late at night, marking the 32nd seismic event in recent days.
According to the Seismic Monitoring Centre, the earthquake struck at precisely 1:45 am. It registered a magnitude of 2.6 on the Richter scale and had a shallow depth of 10 kilometers, making it easily felt across nearby areas.
The epicenter of the quake was located 8 kilometers southeast of Malir, a district that has repeatedly experienced tremors in just two weeks. This follows a pattern of continued seismic activity in the region, particularly in Malir and Korangi districts, raising concern among local residents.
It is noteworthy that Karachi has been experiencing an unusual series of tremors since June 1, with 31 minor earthquakes recorded so far in various parts of the city.
Karachi experienced mild tremors on June 6, 2025 (Friday morning), marking the 31st recorded earthquake in just six days.
According to the Seismic Monitoring Centre, two low-magnitude earthquakes struck the city early in the day, intensifying concerns over ongoing seismic activity.
The first tremor occurred at 4:46 am, with a magnitude of 2.7 on the Richter scale. Its epicenter was located 20 kilometers south of DHA at a depth of just 2 kilometers, making it a shallow and easily felt tremor in the surrounding areas.
The second jolt was recorded at 7:58 am, with a magnitude of 1.8 and a depth of 8 kilometers. This earthquake had its epicenter 7 kilometers northwest of Malir, another densely populated area of Karachi.
On June 5 (Thursday) evening, mild tremors were also reported in Malir, measuring 2.0 magnitude with a depth of 40 kilometers and the epicenter located 11 kilometers northeast of Malir.
Earlier, on June 4 (Wednesday), similar tremors were felt in southern Malir with a magnitude of 2.1 and a depth of 5 kilometers, causing panic among residents who rushed out of their homes. Thankfully, no casualties or property damage have been reported in any of these incidents.
Authorities have issued an alert, warning that further seismic activity is likely over the next days, urging citizens to remain cautious and informed through official channels.
Gwadar
A 3.9 magnitude earthquake jolts Gwadar and surrounding areas of Quetta on Saturday.
According to a private news channel and the Seismological Center, the depth was 14 kilometers, whereas the epicenter of the earthquake was 40 kilometers southwest of Pasni.
