Peshawar – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has delayed signing the summary to call the provincial budget session. The summary was sent by Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur to convene the assembly for presenting the annual budget.
Governor Kundi confirmed receiving the request but chose not to act on it immediately. He said he is reviewing the summary carefully before making any decision. “I am going through it. There is no urgency,” he stated.
He added that under Article 109 of the Constitution, he has a 14-day window to approve or reject the summary. “I am not bound to sign it today,” Kundi said, stressing that he would act within the legal time frame.
The delay has sparked debate over the timely presentation of the provincial budget, which needs to be approved before the new fiscal year begins on July 1. A delay could impact development planning and financial allocations.
Tensions between the provincial government and the governor have been high in recent weeks. This move may further strain relations, especially with budget deadlines drawing near.
