HYDERABAD – Sindh University’s spokesperson Nadir Ali Mugheri has publicly criticised police in Kambar Shahdadkot district for showing what he calls “double standards” in handling two separate murder investigations.
In an open letter to Inspector General (IG) Sindh Police Ghulam Memon, Mugheri expressed frustration over the swift arrest of a police officer in the Sadaf Hasilo murder case, while no progress has been made in his own mother’s murder case, nearly six months after the crime.
Mugheri questioned the urgency shown in the Hasilo case, where the suspect was arrested within 50 days on the Sindh High Court’s (SHC) orders, while the accused in his mother’s case, Khairu Mugheri and his son Majid Mugheri, still roam free despite being nominated in the FIR.
“You personally appeared before the SHC for the Hasilo case, and the accused was arrested the same day. Why is there no similar urgency for justice in my mother’s case?” Mugheri wrote in his letter.
He also accused the district’s police, under SSP Sajid Sadozai, of not making serious efforts to capture the suspects. The inaction, he said, has added to the pain of his family and raised concerns about biased policing.
The statement has sparked debate on social media, with many demanding equal treatment for all victims. Mugheri urged the top police officials to act fairly and bring justice to all families affected by such crimes, regardless of public attention or media coverage.
