Ghana Ali says family opposes her acting career—but she’s not quitting

Pakistani actress and model Ghana Ali has revealed that her husband and family do not want her to continue acting, but she remains firm in her decision to stay in showbiz. In a recent interview with Independent Urdu, Ghana addressed various personal and professional issues, including rumors that she was planning to quit acting. She clarified that despite her family’s disapproval, she has no intention of leaving the industry.

Ghana explained that she completed shooting for two films, but unfortunately, neither has been released. One of the films, which she shot with the late actor Tanzeel Jamal, may face delays due to his passing. The second project has been pending release for five years, with producers still undecided on the next steps.

She also shared that as a married woman, she now turns down bold roles. However, she remains open to meaningful characters in future film projects. Ghana pointed out that women in Pakistan’s entertainment industry often face age-based limitations, with most lead roles written for women under 25.

The actress, who is 31, said she doesn’t want to be typecast in roles like “sister,” “sister-in-law,” or “mother,” which are usually offered to women over 30. She believes such casting limits the creative potential of older actresses and needs to change.

Ghana also clarified past rumors about quitting acting, explaining that during her time in Itikaf, her brother posted an Instagram story announcing her exit from showbiz—hoping to persuade her to leave. However, she insisted she is passionate about acting and intends to remain in the industry regardless of her family’s silent opposition.
