Govt promotes army chief general Asim Munir to field marshal rank after ‘Bunyān Marsūs’ victory

In a historic move, the Government of Pakistan has approved the promotion of Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir (Nishan-e-Imtiaz, Military) to the rank of Field Marshal. The decision honors his exceptional leadership during the military operation “Bunyān Marsūs,” which is being hailed as a strategic and national success.

According to Dawn News, the approval came during a high-level federal cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The cabinet reviewed recent developments and made key decisions, including the elevation of General Munir based on his command performance.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated the entire nation on the remarkable outcome of Operation Bunyān Marsūs, which he described as a “battle for truth.” He praised the armed forces for crushing hostile plans and ensuring the country’s safety and sovereignty.

Officials highlighted that the operation not only demonstrated tactical brilliance but also reinforced national unity at a critical moment. The government believes that General Munir’s promotion reflects both his strategic vision and the collective resolve of the Pakistani military.

The rank of Field Marshal is the highest in the Pakistan Army, rarely awarded and reserved for military leaders with exceptional wartime achievements. General Asim Munir now joins an elite list of officers to have received this honor.

This promotion is seen as a message of strength and unity to the region, underlining Pakistan’s commitment to defense readiness and national security in the face of external threats.
