Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian criticized US President Donald Trump on Saturday for speaking of peace while simultaneously issuing threats. Speaking at a naval event in Tehran, Pezeshkian questioned, “Which should we believe? On one hand, he speaks of peace, and on the other, he threatens with the most advanced tools of mass destruction.”
Pezeshkian emphasized that Iran would continue its nuclear talks with the United States but was not intimidated by threats. “We are not seeking war,” he stated.
Trump had mentioned on Friday that the US had presented a proposal regarding Iran’s nuclear program, urging Iran to act quickly to resolve the long-standing issue. He cautioned, “More importantly, they understand the urgency — if they don’t act fast, serious consequences may follow.”
However, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi denied receiving a proposal, asserting on social media that Iran would never abandon its right to uranium enrichment for peaceful purposes.
Pezeshkian reaffirmed Iran’s stance, declaring that the country would not back down from its “legitimate rights” and rejecting what he described as “bullying.” He added, “They accuse us of causing regional instability simply because we refuse to yield to pressure.”
The latest round of talks between Iran and the US concluded in Oman last Sunday, but no new discussions have been scheduled.
