Mari Energies Limited has announced a significant natural gas discovery at its Soho-1 exploratory well in the Sujawal Block of Sindh. The gas was found in the Lower Goru (Massive Sand) Formation and marks a major breakthrough in the region’s exploration efforts. Initial testing revealed that the well produced 30.01 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of gas at a wellhead pressure of 1,482.5 psig using a 64/64” choke. When tested with a smaller 32/64” choke, it delivered 18.84 MMSCFD at a higher pressure of 3,447.8 psig. Mari Energies holds full ownership of the Sujawal Block and confirmed that this is the first discovery in the Lower Goru formation within the area. The company has also started testing other formations at the well to better understand its total potential. This new find opens doors for more exploration in the region, especially in the Massive Sand formations that have previously posed technical challenges. The company expects this success to contribute positively to Pakistan’s domestic energy production.
