The US Mission to Pakistan has issued a security alert to American citizens amid escalating military activity and airspace closures linked to the deteriorating situation between Pakistan and India. In its alert, the US Department of State reiterated its long-standing “Do Not Travel” advisory for areas near the India-Pakistan border and the Line of Control. It also reminded citizens of the broader “Reconsider Travel” advisory for the rest of Pakistan. While the US Embassy in Islamabad and consulates in Karachi, Lahore, and Peshawar remain open for regular operations, the advisory urged Americans in conflict-prone areas to evacuate if safe. Those unable to leave were instructed to shelter in place. The alert also noted that air travel in and out of Pakistan remains unpredictable.
