LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Maryam Nawaz on Monday clarified that there were no differences between her and Hamza Shahbaz. “Hamza is my younger brother, and the whole family is united under Nawaz Sharif. The opponents start spreading rumors of clashes when they cannot find any thing else. Those who want a dispute within the family will be disappointed,” she said. Maryam Nawaz remarked that the institutions should respect each other. “Our army is fighting for our protection and sovereignty,” she said. She also talked about the accountability cases facing the Sharif family and said it was the first time in world’s history that cases were being heard after the verdict of disqualification had been announced. “Evidence is being sought by those who don’t have any. How can a dead institution like the National Accountability Bureau become alive suddenly,” she said. She maintained that Nawaz’s disqualification had benefitted him. “I am trying to fulfill the responsibility my party has assigned to me,” she said. She hoped that the democratic government would complete its tenure, and said the decision of contesting election will be taken by the party. Published in Daily Times, October 24th 2017.
