‘Clearing agents vital for trade enhancement’

Author: By Ahmad Nabi

KHYBER AGENCY: Former member national assembly (MNA) and federal minister Noor-ul-Haq Qadri asked the clearing agents to utilize their energies for the betterment of the country and enhance business activities on the Torkham border.

He expressed the views during oath taking ceremony of new cabinet of Clearing Agents Association Torkham held in Landi Kotal on Saturday. A large number of clearing agents, elders and members of the civil society were present at the gathering.

Speaking at the occasion as the chief guest, Qadri said the government had to adopt policies that could boost trade activities at the border and would never support any course of action that leaves the local tribesmen jobless.

“Tribesmen have suffered a lot in the last decade and need to be facilitated by providing basic necessities to their door steps”, Qadri maintained.

He urged the clearing agents to stay united and play their due role to increase Pakistan’s trade with Afghanistan and other central Asian countries.

Qadri assured the clearing agents that their grievances regarding National Logistic Cell (NLC) would be conveyed to concerned officials for a solution.

Prior to that, Clearing Agents Association Chairman Mirajuddin Shinwari apprised the visiting guests of the problems they face.
