LAHORE: Heritage Now, a two-day festival aimed at celebrating cultural heritage of Pakistan, kicked off at Alhamra Arts Council in Lahore on Saturday.
The purpose of the festival is to promote Pakistan’s rich cultural heritage in order for it to receive global appreciation. At a time when the country is in distress, the festival aims to promote peace and harmony in Pakistan.
Panelists from different countries discussed the issues the museums and institutions of art and culture face in Pakistan. Not only were these issues addressed in a vocal manner but were also highlighted through documentaries.
Cultural dance and music performances, book stalls and art exhibitions made the first day of the festival even more exciting. The festival did not only cater to adults but also included art activities especially designed for children.
The festival is supported by The British Council, Walled City of Lahore Authority, French Embassy in Pakistan, Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, UNESCO and Government of Pakistan National History & Literary Heritage Division.
