An accident near Jamali Bridge on the Super Highway in Karachi claime two lives when a speeding dumper ran over a motorcycle carrying a couple. The horrific crash resulted in the immediate deaths of both individuals, Express News reported. The bodies of the victims, identified as 54-year-old Tariq Salahuddin and his 55-year-old wife Nadia Salahuddin, were taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital via Chhipa Ambulance. Tariq Salahuddin, a professor of physics at Abdullah Government College for Women, and his wife were on their way to their new home in Azizabad when the accident occurred. Tariq, who lived in Scheme 33, had recently moved his belongings to his new house, and was transporting them in a Suzuki van, while riding his motorcycle with his wife. The incident took place when the dumper struck the couple’s bike at a U-turn. Following the accident, the dumper driver fled the scene. Police have taken the dumper into custody and launched a search for the driver, as per police official. The principal of Abdullah Government College for Women, Tasneem Fatima, expressed her sorrow over the loss of the esteemed professor, adding that the community was deeply shaken by the tragedy. Tariq’s colleagues at the college also rushed to the hospital upon hearing the news of his death. Sindh’s Interior Minister, Zia ul Hassan Lanjar, has ordered an investigation into the accident and directed the district and traffic police officers to take necessary legal action against the responsible driver. The minister emphasised the importance of fair and effective police action and ensuring justice for the victims’ family.
