PESHAWAR: Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) leader Sikandar Sherpao, along with two special assistants of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) chief minister, resigned on Sunday after the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) ended its alliance with the QWP. In a press conference in Islamabad on Saturday, PTI MPA Shah Farman had announced that the PTI had ended its alliance with QWP. “Coalition with the QWP has ended as it did not support our stance on the Panama Papers case against the Sharif family,” Shah Farman had said. Flanked by KP Minister for Revenue Ali Amin Gandapur, Farman said that the decision to expel the QWP from the KP coalition government was taken by party chairman Imran Khan. In 2014, the KP government had also announced to end the alliance. However, CM Pervaiz Khattak later signed an agreement with the party to re-form the alliance. Earlier, it was reported that Imran Khan and Khattak were not on the same page over ending the alliance. Published in Daily Times, July 31st 2017.
