KARACHI: The Sindh Mass Transit Authority has asked Karachi Infrastructure Development Company Limited, to stop its work on second phase of Green Line Bus Rapid Transport System channel from Guru Mandir to Sabri Park Jama Cloth Market M A Jinnah Road. The Officials of SMTA have informed the Green Line BRTS that they were also reviewing the route of Red and Yellow Line Projects under Sindh government project. They have asked Green BRTS to wait for another two weeks as there are consulting for finalizing the decision on Red and Yellow Line routes. Muhammad Waseem, Chairman Planning Division Sindh government has said that a meeting on this effect would be held today to review the matter in question. “We are trying to finalise the subject in shortest time in order to take a clear cut path for the Lines routes”. The hitch between thecentral and Sindh government remains within the parameters of Red-Green routes. They would have to resolve working on same route that what would be the spending and pattern of design of the route as both Liners are interchanging and running on a joint elevated 2-kilometer track, according to an official of Mass Transit. The federal Bus project originally was designed upto Guru Mandir, but on the termination of Blue Line project by Bahria Town Group, Green Lines decided to extend its route from Guru Mandir to Jama Cloth Market. It is pertinent to mention here that the route in question has already been approved by the Federal and Sindh government on amicable manner. Green Line officials have disclosed that they have been informed that the Mass Transit would likely link Red Line route in the same track of Green Line. Green Line authorities have also shown their anger over the stoppage of work on project from Guru Mandir to Old Numaish Chowrangi. The total elevated route of Green Line is 11.45 while the total route of Green Line Bus line from Surjani to Guru Mandir is 22 kilometers (km). After completion of civil work; l construction on 29 Green bus stations and two bus depots besides a command and control centre in Garden East area is been proposed.
