KARACHI: The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation and district administration have failed in preventing mushroom growth of sacrificial animal roadsides makeshift selling points. The traders and sellers have encroached upon open places in several parts of city without having any permission from KMC or any other authority. Such traders have the support of respective area police stations and were running their business without any fear, officials of Veterinary Department KMC claimed. “Our raiding teams while visiting such sites for taking action against them have been attacked and our members have also been made hostage”, they informed. With the assistance of respective area police officials we have rescued our staff, they maintained. The illegal markets have been set up at Garden, Soldier Bazaar, Ranchore Lines, Pakistan Quarters, Martin Quarters, Jamsheed Quarters, Rexer Lines, Old Golimar, Mianwali Colony, Burns Road Pakistan Chowk, Korangi 5, Malir 15, Ismail Goth Landhi, Surjani, Yousuf Goth, Ahsanabad, New Karachi, Ajmir Nagri, Nusrat Bhutto Colony, Nagan Chowrangi, Liaquatabad, Sharifabad, Nazimabad I and II, Taimuria, Kamran Chowrangi, Safoora Goth, Sabri Chowk Orangi 12, Qasba Moor, Frere Town, Clifton and parts of Cantonment areas besides Defence areas. Additional Commissioner South has canceled the permission of an animal market given by KMC to a trader within the boundary wall of a private property in Frere Town Clifton. A police complain has been lodged against trader on order of AC South. However trader has decided to go to the court of law for challenging his legal standing of makeshift animal market.
