LAHORE: Speaking at a rally in NA-120 Lahore, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan expressed his confidence over PTI’s victory in NA-120 by-poll. In a veiled reference to the ‘fake votes’ that were cast on behalf of the actual voters during the 2013 general election, the PTI chairman said that people are afraid to turn up at the polling stations for the fear of post-election victimisation by the ruling party’s ‘Gullus’ and asked them to discard their fears for the sake of a better future. “It is the responsibility of the people to ensure that the corrupt are not elected to the National Assembly,” Imran said. Speaking about the disqualification of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Imran said that in a country where the poor are punished for the crimes of the powerful elite, the Supreme Court (SC) made a daring decision by disqualifying the former premier. “If people vote for the right candidate, their vote will encourage the judges who gave the verdict against Nawaz Sharif,” he said.
