KARACHI: The first day of the Fashion Pakistan Week Autumn/Winter 2017 began at the Global Marquees, attended in full by the who’s who of the fashion, media and entertainment industry to lend their support to the prestigious platform. A total of six esteemed designers showcased their distinct luxury pret and bridal collections. Misha Lakhani Misha Lakhani opened Day 1 with an Intricate, delicate and a truly distinct collection. It was set in a pastel colour palette of pistachio, pink and ivory. Saris, knee length kurtas with short loose pyjamas and gold angrakhas stood out in her showcase. Amna Aqeel Amna Aqeel’s collection was set in a black, white and peach colour palette with plain fabrics and lots of embroidery and motifs. We loved the wearability and the perfection of stitching. The collection exhibited mainly formal wear and luxury pret however it did feature one bridal outfit. Erum Khan Erum Khan poured her heart out with this one. We loved the pastel gowns with intricate embellishments and matching accessories. The perfection of the stitch was highly commendable. The red jumpsuits were brilliantly done. Red and blue dominated the colour palette of her Odyssey collection. Obaid Sheikh Obaid Sheikh’s collection was diverse and showcased warm and cosy bridal and formal wear rich in velvets, bold hues and chunky jewellery. The menswear collection stood out for its simple yet regal look. Saira Rizwan Saira Rizwan played with a nude colour palette with embellishments and gota work. Sari drapes with pants hit the ramp and the trend simply wowed us. The collection was truly trendy, blingy and very wearable. Actress Sumbal Iqbal showstopped for the designer. Suffuse Sana Yasir of Suffuse was the last to showcase. It was one of the most cohesive and memorable collection of the night; metallic, silver and heavyset. Florals, lehnga choli, heavy duppattas and low cut back cholis were some of the highlights of her collection. Published in Daily Times, September 14th 2017.
