KARACHI: Sindh Health Minister Sikandar Mendhro visited the National Institute of Blood Disease (NIBD) Karachi on Wednesday where he presented a Rs 300 million cheque to the organisation. Speaking at the occasion, the minister highlighted the high cost of treatment for blood cancer and the scarcity of resources available at healthcare facilities. He cited this as the reason the Sindh government had awarded the NIBD the cheque. The NIBD is an 80 bed hospital in the heart of Karachi. NIBD is a specialized centre of haematology, bone marrow transplantation and allied surgical/medical treatment. The Minister ensured Dr Tahir Shamsi, head of NIBD of cooperation from the government in future. Published in Daily Times, September 14th 2017.
