KARACHI: A 52-year-old man died of the deadly Congo Crimean Haemorrhagic Fever at a private hospital, provincial health authorities announced on Thursday.The man identified as Syed Ghafoor Shah, a resident of Mujahid Colony of Orangi Town, was admitted at LNH sometime ago and died on September 12.With Shah’s death, the total number of Congo fever deaths reported in the city so far this year reached six, out of which two belonged to Karachi city. Since April, a total of four people, all from Quetta, have died of the virus at different private hospitals in Karachi. Three days ago, authorities declared Naseeb Khan, a resident of Adam Town in Phase I, DHA, as first victim of Karachi who died on September 17 but Dr Zafar Mehdi, Sindh health department’s focal person for the viral disease cleared that it was second death in the city. Shah died before Khan, Dr Mehdi clarified.As many as 45 patients suffering from CCHF were brought to various public and private hospitals of the city during September, Dr Mehdi informed.
