Sir: The judiciary in our country has managed to ignore even the harshest comments from the ministers in the Musharraf era. My question then is why is the judiciary against democracy? The former minister Sher Afghan praised the Chief Justice and the Supreme Court recently. He is the same man who asked the same judiciary to form a ‘Justice Party’ when the judges decided against the Sharif brothers a few years ago. The Chief Justice is quite active to slap contempt charges on an elected prime minister whereas he refuses to do the same when he was asked to form a ‘Justice Party’ by Sher Afghan when the judges decided against the will of the ‘master’ in the Sharif brothers’ case. I wonder if the Chief Justice still remembers that! MAWADDAT ZEHRA Via email
