Sir: It is a common phenomenon in Pakistan that you see many vehicles without headlights. These cars, mini-buses, or even buses are seen all over Pakistan. Reportedly, it is more dangerous than drunk driving. Like in other countries, it is illegal to drive vehicles without lights in Pakistan. But whereas in those countries, once the offender is caught, he is charged and fined and even locked up in certain cases, unfortunately in Pakistan it is not considered a serious offence at all. Therefore a number of accidents take place. It is about time the authorities looked into this issue and made sure these vehicles with broken or no lights are equipped with lights and their owners are penalised. HASIL BOLANI Turbat
