Sir: Sectarian killings in Pakistan’s largest province Balochistan continue unabated. There is an increased targeting of Shias, especially from the Hazara community. Over a hundred people have so far been shot dead belonging to the community in a matter of months. Passengers are forced off buses by militants and killed on the spot, while the jihadi anthem is played in the background. The incessant and unresolved battle between the nationalist insurgents and the Pakistani state simmers, while sectarianism has brought misery to the lives of innocent Shias. I request the government and the higher officials of the province to take immediate steps to stop these acts of sectarian violence in the most deprived province of the country. ARFA KHALID Karachi
