Sir: The government’s recent decision to close all government offices twice a week sounds absurd when the nation is facing the worst economic crisis of its history, and is running its affairs on borrowed money. Government should work on real solutions. If we want to solve the energy and power crises, we should build new dams in different parts of country. We should minimise electricity theft and sign agreements with IPPs reflecting the public interest. According to the president of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce, a fresh increase in electricity rates will deteriorate the country’s industry and will increase unemployment further.
