Sir: I want to highlight an important issue that is causing anxiety in students of evening programmes at the Karachi University. We are studying on self-finance basis and put equal number of hours in studies as the day scholars do. However, we are not treated on equal basis. Students from the evening programmes are never selected for any gold medal in spite of scoring high marks. We have to sit in sweltering heat since air conditioners are not switched on for the evening session. Half of the university goes dark as dusk falls, making it difficult, especially for girls, to move around the campus. I request the higher authorities of the KU to take some suitable measures to address these problems. SYED JAZIB SHAMIM Karachi
