Sir: An increasing trend of using High Intensity Discharge (HID) lights in cars and motorbikes by young people in the main cities of Pakistan has frequently been noticed. Indulging in fun or decorating cars to look different should not be done at the cost of creating difficulties for other people. The HID lights are so strong that the driver of the opposite car is blinded momentarily because of their intensity. Many accidents have already occurred due to this irresponsible act. Driving with HID lights on lightless roads with messy traffic increases the chance of accidents manifold. The world over, HID lights are used under strict rules. In the US, they are called ‘white blinding lights’. I request the concerned authorities to take strict action against the users of HID and lay heavy penalties in case of violations.
