Sir: Through your newspaper, I would like to request the concerned authorities to look into this matter. Pakistan is famous for its tasty and juicy fruits. There was a time when these fruits were easily available in the markets at cheap rates but inflation seems to have hit fruit prices as well. Now the poor cannot afford to buy them despite the fact that Pakistan is a fruit producer and exporter. Unfortunately, oranges and mangoes, which were available in abundance, have gone out of common people’s reach. Rates of per dozen and per kilogram oranges and mangoes have gone up to Rs 200. There is no price mechanism system in effect in our country. Every trader has set his own prices, which is a big problem and needs to be checked so that everyone can enjoy seasonal fruit delights.
