Sir: This is with reference to a news item published in nearly every newspaper recently about the tragic death of three siblings in Khanewal. The incident occurred because of generator fumes. Carbon monoxide is a lethal gas. Now that load shedding has made generators a necessity, safety measures required to avoid accidents should also be adopted. Using a generator in a small space without proper ventilation makes the environment toxic and lethal. A better idea would be to install generators in the open, covered with a wooden or iron casing. With a little care, we can make a great difference in safeguarding ourselves. RIFAT RASHID Lahore
