Sir: I am a farmer and grow mangoes and sugarcane in Mazza Eissenwala, Kot Addu, tehsil Muzaffargarh. These two crops need frequent watering for growth. Unfortunately, the irrigation canal is dry for the last many days. Running a tube-well is not possible too because of load shedding. If I get water through diesel pumps, it costs Rs 100 per litre. Farmers in my area are facing untold hardships. If the situation persists, we would miss agriculture targets. The prices could also rise owing to shortage of supply. RIZWAN A KHAND Muzaffargarh
