As interior minister of the country, he should have known that by not revealing this information for so long, he himself is guilty of criminal conduct. Why did he not speak up when the returning officers were trying to determine the eligibility of the candidates to contest the elections? The two brothers would have had a hard time convincing the ECP that they are staunch Muslims who meet the rigourous standards of Articles 62 and 63 of the constitution — they might even have been disqualified.
