Sir: One cannot help but beg for mercy during these gruelling summer months. The days are getting longer and hotter and the tolerance to bear every difficulty is ebbing away to a new low. The fact that the electricity situation is the worst this country has ever seen and the fact that nobody seems to be doing anything about it has, literally, taken away the people’s will to live and hope. We spend our nights — when we should be sleeping in order to work like donkeys the next morning — sweating, cursing, sleepless and miserable because we have power outages after every hour. How is anyone supposed to be productive, excel and earn for their family when they cannot get a good night’s sleep? I urge the relevant authorities to schedule load shedding so that there is a constant supply of electricity during the night so that the economic agents of this struggling economy can make something of it.
