Sir: It is election day and it feels so good to see that, finally, the message has sunk in, especially in the youth. I see my colleagues, friends and families all actively working on convincing those who are indecisive. The masses are going to vote as they have finally realised their worth. One realises they cannot hold anybody else accountable but themselves. From public rallies to the media, everyone is emphasising the need to vote. There are many cafes and shops that are carrying out promotional activities such as giving away free coffee, cakes, meals, etc, to those who show they are marked with election ink and have voted. Specific clothing lines have made scarves and clothes supporting specific political parties and they have been selling like hot cakes. There is a feeling of festivity with all these flags, posters and songs blaring from speakers set up around roundabouts and roads. The air is electric and people seem to enjoy debating and defending their political parties. One can only hope and pray that everything goes well and that the elections remain safe from rigging and bomb blasts. AREESHA MAZHAR Karachi
