Sir: As everybody knows, yesterday the elections were held. People cast their votes and the media reported about how the elections were progressing. The media reported that a woman was caught casting a fake vote in Frontier Colony, Karachi. A reporter was arguing with a member of the polling station there. He said that a woman had a fake CNIC because on that CNIC there was no picture. On the other hand, a polling officer was showing NADRA’s list in which the woman’s name was present. The woman also told the reporter that hers was an original CNIC. The reporter did not want to listen to a single word. He repeated again and again that the CNIC was fake even though the woman’s CNIC was original. The woman had the right to not show her picture on the CNIC if she so wished. In the end, I just want to say to the concerned authorities to please make sure that hiring is done only on the basis of qualification, not only on the basis of references. M ADEEL Karachi
