Sir: Recently, Fateh Ullah Gandapur, the ex-chairman of the Indus River System Authority (IRSA), in reply to ex-prime minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani categorically clarified that irrigation dams, such as the proposed Kalabagh dam in Punjab, are not capable of depositing floodwater design wise. The dams that can deposit floodwater are entirely different in design. However, it is very sad how some people belonging to Punjab are using such tactics to create support for the proposed Kalabagh dam and also hatred against Sindh. Had it been easy to control floodwater, why are there frequently large floods in the US, Russia, Europe, China, India, etc? It is very sad to note that Punjab is using such disinformation against Sindh to get support for the controversial Kalabagh dam project in Punjab.
