Sir: In the papers of August 24, 2013, there was published a picture of an old gate in the Landa Bazaar. That gate was painted and plastered over with advertisements; it was ruined. The same is the state of the other Mughal-era gates in old Lahore. The walls and artistic structures are all chalked over. I would like to request the authorities to please look towards the defacement of old Lahore, as it is the glory of this city. The Lahore Fort, Badshahi Mosque and all other tombs of that era need to be looked after otherwise soon there will be no signs of them, leaving Lahore lifeless. They are a major tourist attraction, providing a great place for picnics enjoyed by the locals, but now they are in a miserable state. They carry a great amount of history with them. Those nations that do not value their history do not survive long.
